You've heard, no doubt, of the musician's musician and the songwriter's songwriter. Well, Cheryl Foster is "the musician's songwriter". As a classically trained oboist, Cheryl worked regularly with many well-respected orchestras and chamber groups. Throughout the 1990s, she was the solo oboist with Yanni's World Tours, recording on all of his CDs and videos between 1994 and 1998. During this period she performed around the world, including in Australia, Malaysia, China, Korea, Japan, India, Mexico, Canada and throughout Europe and the USA. But although she enjoyed great success as an oboist, Cheryl's heart and soul was always in her singing and songwriting. Having played piano since her youth, she took up acoustic guitar in the 1990s, and used both to compose a wide variety of songs. She honed her craft in the coffee houses and bars of Los Angeles, performing at such well-known venues as The Troubadour. In 2003, Cheryl moved to Wisconsin with her husband Larry, a guitarist and producer who worked the L.A. studio scene in the '80s and '90s. Since then Cheryl has performed occasionally, but has preferred to focus almost entirely on songwriting and recording. Ever the perfectionist, Cheryl has taken several years to produce her first album, Ain't About Me, which is currently available at CD Baby.
